Twenty year old Connor Redd was a sophomore at Saint Mary’s College of CA. He was participating in their study abroad program in Rome in conjunction with Study Abroad Italy (SAI) and John Cabot University (JCU). His tragic death resulted from a fall off his seventh floor balcony on April 1, 2010.
Connor was a friend to everyone he met. His smile was contagious and his dreams were big. He had lots of accomplishments in his life….National Honor Society , State Championships in soccer for his high school and club teams, varsity football, church camp counselor for several years…but in addition he was a funny, loving, compassionate young man. Connor attended elementary, middle and high school in Scottsdale Arizona. Below is a quote from one of his teachers/administrators.
“Earlier this week, I learned one of my former students recently passed away unexpectedly. He was a sophomore in college. I had the pleasure of working with him during 3 separate years between his 7th grade and Junior in high school years. Throughout my many years in education, I can honestly say I have loved every student I have taught and never had a favorite. The reality is, however, that some students have had a greater impact on my life. This particular student was one of the most impressive human beings I have ever known. He was talented, intelligent, and kind in a way that extended far beyond his age. His smile lit up the room and during the typically difficult years of adolescence, I never heard him say a negative thing about anyone. He found a way to take advantage of opportunities to bring out the best qualities in others.”
Connor lit up the room with his smile and big heart…and we will grieve forever. We continue to keep his memory alive. His three brothers use the phrase “Make Connor Proud” which they have shortened to “MCP”. They are certainly making Connor proud as we cherish his memory.
Always loving and missing our sweet Connor,
Sandy, Grimes, Garrett, Brennan and Parker Redd
